Dakar
Dakar, the capital of Senegal, is situated on the Cape Verde Peninsula along the Atlantic Ocean. Home to about 2.4 million people, its name derives from the Wolof word "dakhar," meaning tamarind tree. Dakar serves as a major transportation hub with a large seaport and the Diass airport. The climate is tropical, with temperatures ranging from 18 °C in winter to 30 °C in summer. The best time to visit is from November to May, when the weather is dry and pleasant.
